MONTHLY MEETINGS
 
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:00 p.m. with networking, followed by dinner at 6:20 p.m., a featured speaker/program, and a brief business meeting.
 
  • You will receive a copy of the local chapter's monthly newsletter, Empowering Women, which gives details on monthly meetings and members' news. You will receive a new member's kit and attend a new member orientation meeting that year. 
  • You will be encouraged to become involved and take an active role in the activities of the local chapter by joining a committee(s). 
  • You are eligible to attend all meetings, conferences, and conventions where you will have the opportunity to participate in intense professional development workshops and network with successful business women in the community, state, and nation. 
  • You will have access to the chapter's library of professional development tapes and books. 
  • You can begin taking advantage of ABWA member benefits (see list below).
 
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
 
Women in Business - ABWA members receive a bimonthly magazine published by ABWA that contains timely articles by authoritative experts who understand women's issues. This publication features articles on current business trends, personal and professional development, and information on ABWA members and activities. 
Insurance Plans - As a member of ABWA, you are automatically insured in case of accidental death or dismemberment. You are also eligible for low group rates on disability, major medical, nursing home care, cancer, supplemental Medicare, and hospital plans and life insurance policies. 
Travel/Discounts - ABWA offers members special rates on Hertz car rentals, and at top hotels and resorts throughout the country. 
Prescription Services - Special rates on prescriptions and over-the-counter items are available through a convenient mail-order service. 
Financial Services - ABWA members may apply for special credit card and member loans. The Visa Gold and Visa Classic proudly display ABWA's logo. 
Resume Service - A professional resume is critical to your job search success. ABWA's career experts will organize your accomplishments and goals to create a customized resume that reflects your capabilities and career aspirations. 
 
ONCE YOU HAVE DECIDED TO JOIN:
 
  1. Obtain an application form from a member or the Membership Committee. Also see the ABWA National Headquarter's homepage at www.abwa.org.
  2. Complete the application, noting on the application the member who invited you to join.
  3. Return the application to the Chair of the Membership Committee with your check for $105 - $75 to National on your anniversary date, $30 to local chapter on
    August 1st.
  4. When you join, you will be given an opportunity to purchase a nametag to wear to each meeting. You will receive this information and other options from the National office shortly after your application is submitted to the Membership Committee.
  5. Attend a new-member orientation to learn more about what ABWA can do for you.
