THE 2007 ABWA SCHOLARSHIP
 
Scholarship Application Instructions
 
Every year the Bryan/College Station Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA) awards scholarships to individuals meeting the following criteria:
  1. United States citizen or permanent resident
  2. Full-time student attending an institution of higher education in Texas
  3. Permanent, parental or school address in Brazos County
 
Preference will be given to those students who:
  • Show financial need
  • Are non-traditional students (i.e, returning student, displaced homemaker or single mother)
  • Show a determination and potential for success
 
A complete application package should be sent to the committee in one envelope and must include the following:
  1. A completed application, typed or printed in ink
  2. Transcripts
    1. High school seniors - all high school grades to date
    2. Undergraduate students - all high school and college undergraduate grades to date
    3. Graduate students - all undergraduate and graduate grades to date
  3. An essay of at least 250 words on what makes you deserving of this scholarship, including a statement of educational and/or career goals
  4. No more than three letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation should be from persons who are not relatives. Letters should be in sealed envelopes to ensure confidentiality.
 
GUIDELINES:
 
You are ineligible to apply for this scholarship if you are:
  • Previous ABWA Bryan/College Station Charter Chapter scholarship recipient
  • Bryan/College Station Charter Chapter member or individual who is a member of a Bryan/College Station Charter Chapter member's household
 
Mail completed application package by March 30, 2007 to:
Applicants must be available for interview April 14, 2007
 
Awarded funds will be sent to the educational institution to be applied to tuition and fee expenses.
 
Selection of recipients will be completed by May 1, 2007
